Chocolate Strawberry Thumbprint Cookies

The most wonderful time of the year is here, and with all the sweet and loving vibes, as well as with all the celebration that comes with it, there are no doubts that we all love this season!

One of our favorite things about the holidays is the cooking and baking part! Many say that the sweetest place of a house is the kitchen, and we couldn’t agree more. There is something about cooking and baking at home that makes eating and sharing our homemade meals so special.

For us, when we are cooking or baking, the key is to choose high quality and wholesome ingredients, like our organic and non- GMO line of SHUGA sweeteners. If you start with good food, cooking and baking becomes simple and easy!

To start this week, as many of us celebrate different festivities in this holiday season, we wanted o share what we made over the weekend:  “Chocolate Strawberry Thumbprint Cookies”. These cookies are super easy to make, they are super fun to make with your Lil’ ones, and are perfect to give to your guests.

Ingredients:

1 package chocolate cookie dough

¼ pound strawberries, cubed

3 tablespoons Simply Cane SHUGA! Chocolate Truffle

1 teaspoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water.

Directions:

1- Preheat oven according to cookie dough’s direction. Form cookie dough balls or cut slices according to the packaging’s direction.

2-Press a thumbprint into the center of each cookie portion, about halfway deep. Bake until ready and let cookies cool

3-While the cookies are in the oven, place in a medium saucepan the strawberries, Simply Cane SHUGA! Chocolate Truffle, cornstarch and water.

4-Stir well and cook the strawberries down without mashing them all the way over medium high heat.

5- When the mixture starts to thicken and has reduced, take it off the heat and let it rest on a serving bowl.
6- You can pre-fill the cookies with the strawberry and chocolate truffle jam or allow kids and guests do so themselves.
Enjoy while cookies are at room temperature and jam is cool.
